Why are we so drawn to horror?

Horror is a genre I've been drawn to all my life. In books, movies, and even TV shows like The Twilight Zone, Tales from the Crypt, and Tales from the Darkside. It's not just me-Stephen King didn't become the King of Horror for nothing, and the horror movie genre is incredibly popular.

I write YA novels, but when it comes to short stories, I find myself returning to horror again and again. There is something that draws me to writing these stories and a need to share them.

I hope people who read my stories (and I'm up to eleven anthologies and still going!) try enjoy them. I'll be trying to submit to some litmags; I think they have a broader audience and maybe get more eyes on my material.

Anywhoo, if you happen to read any of my short stories that happen to be horror (only about three aren't!) I hope you enjoy. I certainly enjoy writing them.
